Commission accruals calculated from your plan rules
Commission accruals depend on two things that rarely sit in the same system: the comp plan and the bookings or revenue it pays on. The Accounting Agent brings both together each period, calculates what reps have earned, and drafts the accrual, so your team reviews a finished schedule.
What the Accounting Agent prepares
- A commission schedule by rep, team, or plan, showing the bookings or revenue base, rate, and amount earned
- Plan rules applied consistently: rates, tiers, accelerators, splits, and clawbacks your team defines
- A roll-forward of accrued commissions, from opening balance through payouts to closing balance
- Drafted accrual entries coded by department and entity
- Accrual movements outside the range you expect, flagged for a closer look
How it works
- Pull the data. Bookings come from your CRM, revenue from your ERP or billing system, and payouts from payroll.
- Prepare the work in your logic and format. Earned commissions are calculated with your plan logic in your schedule format, the same way every period.
- Review and approve. You adjust for judgment calls and approve. The accrual then posts to your ERP.
What stays in your control
- Your team owns the plan rules and any change to them
- The sign-off is recorded on the task, and the entry posts only after it
- Each rep's amount traces back to the deals or invoices behind it

FAQ
How is a commission accrual calculated?
A commission accrual is commission earned in the period but not yet paid, calculated by applying the plan's rates to the bookings or revenue it pays on. The Accounting Agent runs that calculation with your plan rules each period.
Can Ledge handle accelerators and splits?
Yes. Tiers, accelerators, splits, and clawbacks are configured into the Accounting Agent's logic once and applied the same way every period, with the math visible in the schedule.
How does the commission accrual tie out?
The roll-forward takes opening accrued commissions, adds what was earned in the period, subtracts payouts, and ties the closing balance to the GL. Each rep's figure links to the deals or invoices behind it.
